Cargo cult refers to native groups who observed cargo planes overhead and, not knowing what they were, copied their designs as idols to worship. In a business then, it’s copying a practice without knowing the exact reasons for the practice and expecting it to magically bring success. Copying the Spotify Model is an oft-repeated example.
