Answering “who is the business for?”.
The constituencies of a business are those whom the business includes in its operations and decisions. Following the triadic profile of an organization, an organization has three main constituencies with different interactive priorities:
- Customers interact autonomously, choosing their own products.
- Shareholders own the organization and control its operations.
- Employees cooperate with one another and management to create the product.
These form a symbolic virtuous loop: Employees that have the investment of their organization create a product that customers want which they put money into which enriches the shareholders who then invest into the organization and its employees.
