Expert blindness is the inability to see how one’s knowledge would be understood by others.

This prevents one from exposing that knowledge so others might benefit from it, ostensibly operating from the understanding that the notions are trivial such that anyone else might already understand.rF3 Personal knowledge management reduces the impact of this by externalizing ideas so selective attention is not the only thing identifying topics of interest.
